what we do
Personal Attendant Services
H.A.N.D. provides non-medical assistance to support those needing short or long-term care. H.A.N.D. assists clients with daily tasks to help them maintain independence and remain in their own home as long as possible.
A Case Manager assesses client needs, identifies the number of hours of assistance required, and then assigns a personal care attendant.
Services may be funded through:
The Department of Aging and Disability Services or Area Agency on Aging- for those who qualify
Austin Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for individuals recovering from breast cancer
Private pay or sliding scale payment based on your income
Services are available in Travis County with breast cancer services available in Travis, Williamson, Hays, and Bastrop counties.
All personal care attendants are screened through a criminal history, misconduct registry, nurse aide registry and reference check.
Social Work Services
H.A.N.D. employs a Social Services Director to assess and access resource needs outside of personal care. Our Social Services Director can help with access to benefits as well as information and support regarding home safety, health, nutrition, caregiver issues, loneliness and isolation, transportation and much more.
H.A.N.D. has a caregiver resource library which contains materials (books, DVD's and brochures) in English and Spanish to support caregivers. Whether you are looking for information on Alzheimer's or dementia, basic care, or emotional support, you can check out a book or DVD to help you on your way.
